Message from Professional Learning Coordinator
Think of a time that you learned something from a professional learning experience that changed your practice as a teacher or principal. According to research, the key characteristics of effective professional learning are:

  • On the job, job-embedded training
  • Long-term, ongoing
  • Focused on classroom activities
  • Highly collaborative environment
  • Structured to offer chances to learn from others

With these characteristics in mind, MNPS has created the Professional Learning Teams (PL Analyst, PL Facilitator, Instructional Designer, Lead Literacy Coaches, Coaches, and PALS).

What do we do?
During the first two weeks of school, all coaches visited new teachers. A feat that had never been accomplished in this district.

For the remainder of the year, the coaches are going to be assigned to various schools, based on input from the Executive Directors and School Improvement Plans. A monthly calendar and monthly professional learning status will be provided.

As a group, we are excited about our new roles and are looking forward to meeting your needs.
